Mrs. LaPenna was born in Staten Island to Dominick and Agnes (McDonald) LaPenna. She lived in Elizabeth, prior to moving to Cranford 37 years ago.

Mrs. LaPenna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald F. LaPenna, Sr. and her dear grandson, Donald F. LaPenna III. She is survived by devoted children, Donald F. LaPenna Jr. and his wife Angela, Diane Trawinski and her husband Edward and Patricia Lani and her husband Richard; her cherished grandchildren, Richard, David, Natalie and her husband Mark, Nicholas and his wife Sarah, Lyndsey and Jason; 8 great grandsons, Richard, Anthony, Mark, Robert, Nicholas, Thomas, Benjamin and Samuel; her brother, Edward Siravo and his wife Harriet.

Alice was at the head of her class when it came to business as she held administrative positions, working in Insurance, and banking and of course loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Alice left behind an impressive legacy. Perhaps what she was best known for was her sweetness. Alice was incredibly nice to everyone she encountered and always bestowing huge a "Thank you" to people as often as she could. Whenever anyone who knew Alice met a member of Alice's family, they couldn't resist telling the family how lucky they were to have Alice and how nice she was and what a pleasure it is to know her. We all knew, but it was nice to hear, just the same.

In loving memory of Alice Please send donations to: McAuley Hall Health Care Center, 1633 Highway 22, Watchung, NJ 07069.

The Mercy spirit of hospitality and outreach is as vibrant today as it was 50 years ago when the first Sisters of Mercy traveled down the hill to their new home at McAuley Hall. Primarily a retirement home for Nuns and Priests it was a heavenly place where Mom was welcomed and was part of the culture that included daily mass and many daily celebration.
